akera® is a specialised development and installation team for radar-based perimeter security. Based in Itzehoe, seven people, on the market since 2003.
Conventional security radars operate in the X- or W-band and deliver usable results as long as the environment is friendly. Once large metal structures enter the picture (container stacks, rails, pipelines, tank farms), reflections multiply and those radars drown in false alarms. We filter the static reflections out in software. The method has been patented since 2017.
Founded in 2003 by physicist Ulf Beckers, akera® started with the idea of building security technology from first physical principles. Early solar park projects in 2006 grew into the specialised perimeter security business that is our core today. In 2017 we developed the foundation for our current position: patented 24 GHz radar with algorithmic filtering for metal-heavy environments. Since then we've been working with industrial customers like LyondellBasell on continuous refinement.
